With much of the country in a deep freeze right now, many of us are thinking about springtime and warmer weather. This year springtime will also bring our 2017 Annual Meeting to be held at the !27th March Party sponsored by the Garfield-Perry Stamp Club, one of the premier national level shows. The show will take place from Thursday March 23rd through Saturday, March 25th. The combination of warmer weather and philatelic camaraderie will be a welcome change.
The show will be held at the LaVilla Banquet and Party Center, 11500 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, Ohio. The show hotel will be the Cleveland Airport Marriott at 4277 W. l 50th Street, also in Cleveland. The hotel is offering a special rate of only $112 per night which will be available from March 22nd through March 25th. To make reservations and receive this reduced rate, call the hotel at 216-252-5333 before March 2nd. The hotel will provide complimentary parking and, for those flying in, they have a complimentary airport shuttle upon request.
A number of show activities will take place at the hotel. These include a show hospitality room, a Thursday evening wine and cheese reception and a complimentary Exhibitors & Judges Luncheon on Friday. On Friday evening, the awards banquet will be held at the 100th Bomb Group Restaurant located at 20920 Brookpark Road. Banquet tickets are $55 per person in advance or $60 if purchased at the show.
The Exhibit Prospectus and Application are available on the show website at www.garfieldperry.org or from the Exhibits Chairman, our own Greg Shoults, at coilcollector@hotmail.com. Inasmuch as this is our annual meeting show, exhibiting members will be able to compete for our three Society exhibiting awards – The Southgate, The Hopkinson and The Cleland.
As is our tradition, we will be holding our Dutch Treat Fellowship Dinner on Thursday evening, the first night of the show, at a site to be determined.
The Society booth, staffed throughout the show, will provided members with a place to gather and visit. If you would like to give a presentation at the show and/or would be willing to volunteer some time to help staff the Society booth , please let me know.
