One of the original organizers of the B.I.A., serving in several
capacities and giving generously of her time, talent and money to
further the work of the Association. Her crowning achievement -
publishing the first 21 sections of the B.I.A. Plate Number Check List.

ARTHUR E. OWEN
Vice President, 1935-1944

One of the original organizers of the B.I.A. and foremost authority on
20th Century United States stamps, he was responsible for directing the
work of the Catalogue Listing and the Standardization Committees, on
which he served with distinction. Contributed considerable data to the
B.I.A. Plate Number Check List.

WALTER R. McCOY
Vice President, 1930-1952

One of the original organizers of the B.I.A. and leading authority on
Plate Numbers. Served on several committees throughout the years and
directed the development of Plate Number collecting to its present
recognized standing in the Bureau Issues field.

R. A. BRYANT
Governor - Vice President - Secretary - Clerk of the Board -
Editor of The Bureau Specialist, 1930-1964
|
One of the original organizers of the B.I.A. and eminent editor of The
Bureau Specialist from its inception - more than 34 years of continuous
service of an outstanding character. In addition, as a member of the
Board of Governors (from 1930), Clerk of the Board (from 1932), Vice
President from 1941), member and clerk of the Executive Committee (from
1946), and Secretary (from 1957), the magnitude of his contributions to
the B.I.A. in advancing its effectiveness and enhancing its prestige has
been beyond measure.

SOL GLASS
Governor - Vice President - President - Chairman of the Board, 1945-1967
|
An untiring worker who literally lived B.I.A. for two decades, he worked
to enhance its stature through his many associations with government
officials and the international philatelic community, in which he
received the highest honors. His greatest joy in these accolades was
their favorable reflection on B.I.A. He compiled the authoritative
B.I.A. handbook United States Postage Stamps, 1945-1952, as well as
other important monographs on U.S. philately.

WALTER A. McINTIRE
Governor - Vice President - Photographer - Consultant, 1934-1970
|
A 40-year member who served not only in official capacities but as
editor of the influential B.I.A. section of Weekly Philatelic Gossip
during the decade of the 1930's. For at least ten years prior to his
death in 1973, he enhanced The United States Specialist by furnishing
most of the photographs and art work, in addition to preparing prints
for the B.I.A. mats. Always generous with his time and expertise, he
assisted many students and authors in their research projects.

GEORGE T. TURNER
Governor - Research Philatelist-Librarian, 1906-1979

America's foremost philatelic librarian serving on the B.I.A. Catalog Listing
Committee and as B.I.A. Librarian. Appointed in 1958 as Associate Curator of
the Division of Philately and Postal History of the Smithsonian Institution. Author
of B.I.A publications "Sloane's Column" and "Essays and Proofs of the
United States Internal Revenue Stamps". B.I.A. Governor 1946-1949. Revenue
columnist for the American Philatelist. President of the American Philatelic
Congress and the American Academy of Philately and an APS Board member. Director
of SIPEX 1966. Recipient: Lichtenstein Memorial Award (1975), APS
Luff Award (1976) and Signer Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (1978).

MORTON D. JOYCE
Committee Chairman - Researcher - Philanthropist, 1938-1989

One of the B.I.A.'s original incorporators and subscribers in 1938 and
an internationally known philatelist. He was an honorary member and the
B.I.A. Revenue Committee's first chairman. Supporter of the B.I.A.
financially and philatelically for over 50 years, authoring a number of
articles on revenues. He is largely responsible for the publication of
Pat Paragraphs, Sloane's Column and Essays and Proofs of U.S. Internal
Revenue Stamps.

GEORGE W. BRETT
Governor - President - Chairman of the Board - Chairman Emeritus, 1933-2005

Unparalleled service to the B.I.A. Served as a member and Chairman of
several Committees. A member of the Board of Governors, President for
two years, Chairman for six years and Chairman Emeritus for over 20
years. Recognized as the 20th Century's leading authority on stamp
printing and production. A prolific researcher, authoring hundreds of
articles in The Bureau Specialist and The United States Specialist. Member
of PMG Citizen's Stamp Advisory Board, honored with APS Luff
award, the Collectors Club Alfred F. Lichtenstein award and the Smithsonian's Philatelic Achievement Award.

BARBARA R. MUELLER

One of American philately's most distinguished writers and editors. Has
edited and written publications for audiences that range from novice collectors
to specialists. One of the most honored philatelists in the hobby,
including the USSS Century of Service award, the APS Luff
award, the Collectors Club Alfred F. Lichtenstein award and the Smithsonian's Philatelic Achievement Award.
